Quilt As You Go – (1 of 16 videos)

intro to elementary quilt

Intro:

Learn how to make a small quilt (18″ by 18″) from 9 quilt-as-you-go blocks. This is a great project for beginner and experienced quilters. It makes an easy “take and go” project. Once you master this technique, you can make any size quilt.

This is a great quilt project for beginners and for teaching hand sewing. It’s also a good project because you use up lots of scraps of fabric and batting. Your cost is minimal; just the thread and your time. In this project, each block is made individually. This one has been sewn by machine but you can sew it by hand.

So you are going to make these blocks – little quilt sandwiches. You’ve got the back, the batting and the top. So, after you have gathered up a number of these, you sew them together into your quilt.

The front of the quilt has these nice finished seams. The back of the quilt has this fuzzy seam. It almost looks like chenille.

In the next video, I’ll go over the supplies you’ll need for this project.
