Quilt Pattern/Name: Tree of Life
Quilt Size: 55 inches by 55 inches
Quilt Maker: pieced by Ann Tarabini/ machine quilted by Ruthmary Schauer
Quilt Completion Date: finished in 2014
Extra Information: Each block in this quilt is made from leftover scraps from other projects. I didn’t plan on the dusty blue alternative squares but the fabric seemed to help unify all the blocks.
I teach classes on sewing accurately. This is a great block for testing your ¼” seams along with your cutting skills and your pressing techniques. The small block in the border is a smaller version of the larger blocks. It was applied to the border at the last minute using appliqué. (This is why I say everyone should learn to applique as every now and then it comes in handy.)
Ruthmary quilted the meandering pattern in border and then quilted a different design in the nine blocks and the alternative blocks.
