Extra Information:  In the Fall of 2017, my husband and I participated in a shop hop in the San Francisco Bay Area.   Each shop we visited passed out two fat quarters of Kaffe Fassett fabric. This fabric is very colorful with bold patterns.

When I pinned all the fat quarters on the design wall, I really liked what I saw – lots of bright fun.  I decided to make some Granny Squares using these fat quarters as focal fabrics.   I made 12 Granny Squares based on 12 Kaffe fabrics.  I cut 5 inch squares from the focal fabrics and placed these in two rows between the Granny Squares.  I use this quilt as example of focal fabrics in my classes.

The background (sashing/borders) is a white solid.  I tried using a newsprint fabric but decided it looked best on the solid fabric version of this quilt.  Ruthmary quilted flowers in each square.  She quilted vines with leaves on the background fabric.
