Quilt Pattern/Name: Feed Sack Nine Patch
Quilt Size: 64 inches by 64 inches
Quilt Maker: pieced by Ann Tarabini/ machine quilted by Ruthmary Schauer
Quilt Completion Date: 2015
Extra Information: Many of the nine patch blocks were made from feed sacks that I acquired from nice lady in Ohio. Her family had purchased chicken feed in these bags and then she used the leftover fabric sacks to sew items for her family. The sacks had stories to go with the pattern (dining room curtains, kid pj’s, etc). Since I always felt guilty cutting into this stash, I wanted a quilt pattern to help showcase these. I also added some contemporary prints to the mix. The white squares are made from cut up men shirts and leftover scraps. I think this added to the recycle theme. I decided not to border the quilt.
Ruthmary quilted the meandering pattern in the white squares and then quilted a different design in the nine patches. The back of the quilt is also made from some cut up curtains and sections of a discount fabric.
