Raw Edge Applique

Applique Raw Edge

Raw Edge Applique occurs when a cut out shape has been applied to the top of another fabric.  The edges of the shape are “raw”; there’s no seam allowances to turn under.  Raw edge applique can be applied with machine or hand stitching, fusibles or glue.  The edges will fray with wear. (Sometimes fraying is the desired “look”.)
